When you’re young, it can be easy to go into life guns blazing. You have dreams, places to go, people to meet and problems to solve. It’s great to have ambition, but what about peace and contentment?
Learning to dream again after tragedy
There is a phenomenon amongst people who have their lives turned upside down, where they find themselves stuck in the past, even after they’ve conquered it. You see, after years (or maybe even a lifetime) of fear, anger, shame, abuse or pain, you begin to get in the groove. You start to believe on a daily basis that the world is going to end, the other shoe is always about to drop.
Making and keeping New Year’s Resolutions
We open with a familiar scene to everyone. Each year, we gather with family and friends. We discuss the past, we dream up the future. When the clock strikes midnight, we find ourselves suddenly accountable for this new person we said we would become…or not.
Wounds from religion
We live in a wonderful world today that is, as a whole, striving towards religious tolerance. And as a whole, I believe this to be a good thing. People deserve to believe what they believe, without being chastised or harassed for it. However, religious tolerance is not always extended to everyone, particularly by people who tend to benefit from it the most. And freedom from any religion, well that is looked down upon strongly.
Decluttering my past

How do I change others? (And not let them change me?)
When you find yourself coming out the other end of a trial, it can be very tempting to want to scream it from the rooftops to anyone who will listen to you, and that is your right. But it isn’t your responsibility, and for the most part, it isn’t the best idea either.

How to save yourself from a meltdown
Life can be stressful. Although we may try to be mindful, spiritual, and so on and so forth, it doesn’t always work out the way we hope. After all, we’re all human.
So when life gets you down (and just keeps on stomping), what can you do to save your sanity? Mental breakdowns are never fun.
Is yoga satanic?
Coming from a very Christian background, I have been brought up to be wary of yoga, meditation, and all things similar. I was warned that adopting these practices would land me in hell, but even more so, open me up for spiritual warfare and possession, effectively ruining my life.
Confusingly enough, everyone who had tried these things themselves said nothing of these struggles, even if they no longer participated in these activities, so what gives?
Why do I hate myself?
Hating yourself hurts. Unfortunately, it’s become quite normal these days for people to secretly hate themselves.
You think if you could just figure out why you hate yourself in the first place, you could be free of it. And you can. It just doesn’t happen all at once. Continue reading “Why do I hate myself?”
