It’s no secret, I’ve talked about therapy a lot on this site. I’ve given you a story of when I was in therapy, a piece on if you should be in therapy, a post on if you should quit therapy, not to mention a smattering of other pieces as well as mentions of therapy in posts where therapy is not the main topic. That’s because it’s been a big part of my getting better, and for those of you who have access and can afford it, I think it could be an important tool for you. (That’s what this is about, after all, expanding our tool belts.) But today, I’m doing something a little different.

Hi everyone! A while back, I posted about the inner work necessary in order to improve your emotional health. (If you’re interested about my journey with inner work, you can find that post here.) In that piece, I mentioned that I would be writing about specific mental work in the future. Well, wait no longer because that day is today! And today, we’re talking about the validity of our thoughts.

Ever since the beginning of this blog, I’ve considered only one tagline: in pursuit of a better life. I plastered it on my site, even put it on a t-shirt. But now I’m starting to think maybe it’s time for a change. Let me explain.

My vegan journey, part 3: advice for new vegans
Welcome to part 3 of my series on veganism. In part one, I addressed what my food attitudes were like before veganism. And part two talked about the initial change of finding out about veganism and my decision to devote myself to it. Now we begin the third installment of my vegan series. I’m going to tell you the things that I feel all new vegans particularly should know. Well, at the very least, the things that I feel like I should have been told when I first went vegan. I’m also going to wrap up my “beginning of veganism” story.

This is part two of the story of my vegan journey. If you didn’t read part one, I highly suggest you do, as it sets the scene for what is to come here. You can read part one by clicking here.
Now, when we last left off, I was someone who wanted to be vegetarian, but did not succeed. I was disappointed. And I didn’t get over it, so much as I let my disappointment fade into forgetfulness over time. I thought that was the final chapter of my meat-free lifestyle. The beginning of this story starts a couple years after that, where I gain access to the idea of veganism for the first time as a young teenager.

I don’t talk about my veganism much. There are a lot of reasons for this, including personal morals, misperceptions of others and as bad as it may sound, emotional exhaustion. But because of suggestions from other people, I’ve decided to talk about it anyway. Knowing that people want to hear about this has brought me to the decision to talk about it openly and honestly, so I hope you all enjoy.
Thank you so much!
This week, I am celebrating one year of running this site. I’m so proud of and grateful for the journey that this has been—with all of you reading and growing with me. I wanted to write a blanket thank-you. You know, the sort of speech an actor might say when accepting an award or something. And although I’m just a regular person who hasn’t won any awards, I hope you’ll listen anyway. Because one of my thank-you’s just might be for you.
